What a cheeky little monkey - that little Madam!

I hope hers (and your) holidays were unforgettable!

We did have snow on Christmas. There was enough to turn the grass white and that was about it. Last week we got much more than that and it was below freezing for better part of 3 weeks. "Brass" and "Monkey balls" comes to mind!

You're lucky we're friends? I'm the lucky one - so thank you for hanging in there. xxxx

I am not refreshed and still not ready to face 2018. I think I need another holiday - or actually play the lottery so I can win and retire early.

I think one year we gave the boy a mini sofa to put at the end of our bed so he could watch cartoon in the morning. We wrapped it beautifully and were so excited for him to open it up and love the sofa like we did. Um, he LOVED the box. I have pictures of him in the box. Once he got the box he was done opening presents. We should have just given him a box. He would have loved it!

One other year he was so excited about opening presents he became like a shark on a feeding frenzy. He just ripped open and dropped the present to move on to the next one. He opened some of mine and some of his dad's before we could slow him down and point him in the right direction. Kids are so funny!

All my love to you and yours, I hope 2018 is a happy and healthy one! ♥♥♥♥♥ <- look at what I swiped just for you!

gotta go - lunch is over.

Hiya Jenn,

We didn't have snow at crimbo but we had some before and we've had some this week, so little madam got to make some Olaf's.

Sorry that you are not refreshed yet. I agree, winning the lottery and retiring is the dream. I keep buying the tickets, fingers crossed.

LOL, your mini sofa story made me laugh. It's so true. I remember being like that, making dad push me round in a giant box like it was a racing car. I remember one Christmas hearing dad, after having pushed me round till he was huffing and puffing, saying to mum "next year we get them lots of little presents".

Today Amelie has fallen in love with the vacuum cleaner. She hates the noise and cries when we use it, but today after mum using it, she climbed off my knee and went up to it and said cuddles. the she kissed it and insisted on feeding it.

I hope that you and yours have a happy New Year and that 2018 is a good one for you.
I love the hearts you swiped.

Here's some back attcha ♥♥♥♥♥

Hiya MissT – I remember being 11 years old and the cutest boy in the school was talking about Mr. Bill from Saturday Night Live. All the other kids were joining in and piping in their favorite catch phrase. I had no idea what they were talking about. When he asked me (and my doors were blown off that he was actually talking to me) what I thought of the show – it was obvious that I had no clue. So I told him that I went to bed at 9 pm on Saturdays but I liked the show. It was a lie. I went to bed at 8:00 but I thought it was a cooler number. I remember him and the other kids laughing in my face. He knew I never saw it.

I knew then I wasn’t going to do that to my kids.

I do love books. I love used book stores. I love the smell of books. I love the feel of them. I love to mangle the pages. I never, never, never lend them out. Any time I’ve loaned a book out it has either not come back or………. well come to think of it, not come back. I loaned someone the first three books in a series and she never gave them back. As a matter of fact, when I asked her about them and she flipping let somebody I DO NOT KNOW borrow those books and she never got them back. Oopsie. After a year I finally gave up and purchased new ones. Lesson learned.

I have stacks all through the house ready to grab and jump in. I was cleaning the living room last week and found a book that fell behind the sofa. I’ll have to start that one over. Apparently it’s been there for a long time. I prefer horror/fantasy with a little smut peppered in for good measure.

We’re expecting snow tonight (not much) and then again on Sunday. Nothing to accumulate but make driving miserable. That’s ok. It’s perfect reading weather.

Kids do love boxes. As the boy got older, his presents got smaller and more expensive. I miss those big box days.

It’s funny that Little Madam loves the vacuum but only when it’s off. I wonder what she likes about it? I don’t remember the boy being overly enamored with an appliance, although he did get a big kick out of me using the hose on the vacuum and sucking up his hair.

2018 will be a good one – while I can’t say “I can feel it,” I’m saying “I’m going to will it into being a good one.” I wish the same for you and many more!

-> Swiped again ♥♥♥♥♥

That's awful that you couldn't join in conversations. That's not how kids should feel.

I know what you mean about books. I don't lend them outside of the family, I did once and didn't get it back and I also bought it again. My family know that they have to return my books as soon as they are done with them. I am very protective of my books.

Amelie is impressing us more and more each day, her language is amazing. She's taught herself the whole alphabet from watching the alphabet song nursery rhyme on the tablet. She can also count to 14 and she's only 2yrs 3 months, seriously, She's picking this up without us trying to teach her. And she doesn't miss a trick, her mum and dad are trying to wean her off baby milk onto cow's milk but she's rumbled them and always asks for normal milk, she kept mumbling different milk, different milk under her breath.

She has just had her passport photos done for her first holiday abroad. We are going to take her to Spain, can't wait.

Stole them back again too ♥♥♥♥♥

Hi there. Sitting at the dentist with the boy. He got his first cavity and was a little nervous of going by himself. He’s being ao brave.

That Amelie is amazing! Do you think she’s ready for pre school?

Urgh, the dentists on valentines day, no snogging for him. I hope it went well.

Amelie does go to a playgroup but all this stuff she's teaching herself from her tablet and copying what we say. She is surprising us with what she is coming out with cos she's saying things we can't remember saying to her. She's a star. The other day, she made me bend down so she could brush my hair, then she stroked my face and said "your hair is gorgeous and you are beautiful", I almost melted.

I was so excited to be able to take a moment while the boy was getting drilled and then he was done. Bip, bap, boom. He was a real trouper and because of that I snagged a sticker for him to wear out of the office.

Dentists on any day is no snogging good either. I always get so panicked when I go to the dentist. I go every 6 months and my teeth are good (soft, but good), and I've never really had a bad experience yet I'm super anxious. When I'm in the chair, I am basically planking the entire time. Stiff as a board. I do sleep well that night from letting go of the anxiety and planking though!

Amelie sounds bright as a star - good for her. You'll have to watch it. Those wee ones are like parrots. They will repeat anything they hear from any one. We had a few incidents with a few choice words. A couple were from me, but others were not!

When the boy was about Amelies age, he told that when his best friend Ashrey sits in his chair that he gets indignant. I was flabbergasted. And he meant it! Goofy kid!

That girl is being brought up right! "your hair is gorgeous and you are beautiful" I have melted and it didn't even happen to me!

The best part of that is that she's speaking the truth to you. It's an honest observation. You should always remember that - "your hair is gorgeous and you are beautiful." Is there any other pick-me-up than that?

Have a great week. It snowed Saturday night. It was sticky and beautiful. Tomorrow I will be able to go barefoot.

Oh dear, your dentist anxiety sounds rough. We've been lucky because when we were little and first needed the dentist, my Auntie Anne worked at one. Mum and Dad thought we'd be less scared if she was there so we went to that one and all these years later, even though it is over the other end of town, we still go there and now Neil and Amelie go there, many years after my Auntie left. Because it's so far away, we always go for fast food afterwards so it always became an event. Because of that, I grew up loving the dentist trip. Our dentists have always been nice, our currant lady is brilliant and even though I've had the usual amount of childhood fillings, I haven't had a bad experience.

Aw bless, the boy sounds so funny saying his grown up words while little. I am still lovin calling little madam cutie tuttie, "me not like cutie tuttie", but she's fine with cutie pie. Sis's health visitor is coming for Amelie's 2 year progress check, she can do all the things and is ahead in all of them, especially speech. The only think she can't do is jump. She has a trampoline and she can say the word no probs, but she likes to play 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed and she likes us to lift her up high, she's not really interested in jumping herself LOL.

Did I tell you she is doing subtractions, and she learned them herself? We play the monkeys game and we usually start at 3, so when one bumps his head and the Dr said, no more monkeys jumping on the bed, we say "there was three and one fell off, how many left", and to our surprise, she worked it out and she did it all herself. She has tought herself the alphabet song by watching dave and ava sing it on youtube. She knows all the names of Peppa pigs friends and you should see her scrolling away on my phone.

The best part of that is that she's speaking the truth to you. It's an honest observation. You should always remember that - "your hair is gorgeous and you are beautiful." Is there any other pick-me-up than that?

Aw bless you, you put a smile on my face. I know that my hair is crap and I am average but when Amelie says it I believe that she believes it and that's enough for me.

I hope you enjoyed your snow, we might get some next week as it is supposed to be getting very cold. I thought it was meant to get warmer nearer spring. I wouldn't mind but we only really had anough snow for her to build an olaf one day. We keep getting some scraggy but of snow that vanishes overnight, I want a proper downfall, I want the think crunchy stuff, I love being the first person to walk on it down our path.

Take care and have a great week.

Hello my Sweet.

Today is international jewel day. I’m not sure how everybody else is celebrating, but I think you are a gem of a friend, so I thought I’d tell you so.

I can remember the first time I went to the dentist. He was a nice old man and I remember the smell of his office. It was not a bad visit, but I was not real thrilled with somebody digging around in my mouth. It could just be that I have personal space issues. As in, if you’re within my arms-length you’re in my personal space and that means you’re too close. Willie calls it the Jen-o-meter and “danger zone.”

The boy and I go to Willie’s dentist from when he was a kid. They’re nice enough but expensive. We only had one bad experience with the Children’s Doctor. She informed me that parents were not welcome back during exams. I warned her that was not a good idea because the Boy was anxious and if he got whipped up, his gag reflex was legendary. She didn’t listen. He wound up barfing on her within 5 minutes. I was so proud of him. I do have a friend who also loves going to the dentist. She once told me she’d go every week if she could afford it. Her teeth are beautiful!

Little Madam is just so funny. The Boy didn’t like Maxie Taxi. “Me no rike dat.” But Maxie is ok. I still call him that sometimes. I just try not to do that when other people are around. That girl will jump when she’s good and ready. It’s obvious that she’s smart and she is having more fun with you jumping her up (high, no doubt) on the trampoline.

Math at that age? Good for her. I’m still struggling with math. Thank God I have fingers to use! I think kids these days are smarter than we were at that age. There are so many more ways for them to learn and pick up. As adults we are more aware of how to encourage them to keep their minds open. They are just like sponges. Willing and able to absorb it all and run with it.

Amelie is telling you the truth. You are beautiful and she loves you completely.

I did enjoy the snow. Sort of. The first storm that rolled through took out my power. Lots of trees and branches down. Somebody was killed who was a local man trying to get home in the storm. I slipped off the road on the way home and that was a bit scary. I was saying the mantra, “oh shit, oh shit, oh shit” and then when we stopped sliding “we’re ok, we’re ok, we’re ok.” It was a beautiful snow, but very heavy and it was super windy (blizzard). The second storm kept us home on a snow day. That was much more enjoyable. We got about the same amount of snow but no wind. It was all nearly melted the next day. Today we had our third storm. It snowed in the morning but now it’s sunny and warm. I never knew March could be so tricky weather-wise.

Speaking of March, isn’t your birthday coming up soon? It popped into my head last night. Happy, happy, happiest of days.

Well, that’s lunch. Have a great week and I’ll talk to you later.

♥♥♥ <- not going to tell you where I got these from.

Aw bless you sweetie, you are a total gem too, a big old shiny one.

I would have been so proud too. I can remember coming back from a holiday once and we were literally less than a mile from home when I told mum and dad I was gonna barf. they told me of course I wasn't cos we were so near home, I could hold it. Of course massive barfing ensued and it was like it was made of permanent marker. It was bright orange and we just could not get it off anything it touched, it was like bleach LOL.

Little Madam is just starting to do very small jumps on the stairs. She's doing so well with her talking though. She's so bossy too. I have been ill this week with Bronchitis and she insisted on holding my breakfast orange juice and feeding it to me. then she patted me on the arm and said "good girl".

I'm so glad that you are ok and survived the snow. Your mantra sounds very much like what I would say. We had a lot of snow for a few days, I had to leave work early on the Wednesday and Thursday, we were covered but by Sunday it was gone. Then last Thursday, we had one day of it. They don say it will snow again this weekend and I don't care as long as it's not snowing nest week so we can catch our flight.

Yup, it's my birthday on Tuesday and the next day we are off on hols so that is nice. Sis, hubby and Amelie, hubby's mum and dad, me and mum and our auntie Margy all off. I've booked a whole row and two seats behind on the plane, we are taking over LOL. Fuengirola here we come. It'll be nice to remember what sunlight is LOL.

I'll chat to you when we get back. Until then, all my love and hugs.
