What a lovely family!
Thank you for the Jojo up above.
Just wanted to pop by and tell you we’re still in the middle of everything, but all are doing well.
More of a celebration of life than anything else.
Thanks for the thoughts. Hug your loved ones for me.
Hi Jenn sweetie,
You are welcome for the JoJo. I want my friends who have lost people too soon to know that they are being though of.
The Egyptians believed that if someone's name was memorialised and said out loud by whoever read it, it became fuel for the soul and gave that person an extra boost of greatness in the afterlife.
I'm glad that you are celebrating a life, sounds like it was a life full of wonderful family and friends. I'm sure that's the best life anyone can have.
I will defo give my loved one's a hug. I hope you do the same too sweetie.
All my love and hugs, as much as you can manage xxx
I love those pcs!
I would love, love, love to be at the sea every day. It’s in my blood.
Congrats on the job contract! It’s wonderful that not only did the contact get extended, but that you love the job. Way to go!
Your trip to Northumberland sounds lovely! I googled it and it looks amazing! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is just so much cool history over there. And castles. I love me some castles.
I know I loved pink for a long time. And then I loved blue. Now I love a periwinkle which is about a mix. Maybe Lavender. I’ve NEVER liked yellow. Your sister is correct – it’s forced happiness. Not to mention it’s a horrible color for me to wear. The interior of my home is all cool colors. Greens and blues. We had one yellow room. Kind of like a honey color which I loved for a long time until I was done. Done, done, done. This past summer we painted it grey because I couldn’t handle any color in there. I consider grey a darker white which is a nothing color. I needed bland. Our friend who is staying with us is our most frequent visitor. He was thrilled that we painted the room. He said he always called it our “Curious George” room, which made me laugh.
The boy would play with his wooden Thomas the Tank Engine set in his bedroom all the time. I would sit at the top of the stairs and listen to him. A lot of times he’d do the voices of the characters and act out a part that he saw on television, but what he also did was process his day. He would play and you could tell he was acting out what he saw or felt in the real world. It was quite an eye opener once I realized what he was doing. It was a great help in trying to figure out what was going on in his little monkey head.
Labor Day - Labor Day in the United States of America is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws, and well-being of the country. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend. It is recognized as a federal holiday. It’s a huge cook-out day and kind of a last grasp of the summer. People go to the beach or mountains for one last hurrah before school officially starts.
I would love a bonfire night.
Thank you for the JoJo, I LOVED your Egyptian explanation. That thought is very cool and will try to adopt and share that idea with family. I also heard that if you find pennies around that is a loved one (who has gone to the great beyond) is thinking of you and letting you know. I keep finding pennies all over my house. Everywhere I look, there’s a penny. If you think of it that way, it’s kinda cool and makes me smile.
I hugged my fam and you hugged yours. Our collective bunch sure do get a lot of hugs! ♥♥♥
Thanks for the congrats. Yes, it's so good that I enjoy it because with my depression, if I'm not loving the job, I just drop everything and walk away. It's bad enough coping with the depression to cope with a hateful job too. Actually none of my jobs have been hateful but if I just don't LOVE it, it's hard to cope.
Northumberland is soooooo gorgeous. We have to do Bamburgh castle, I love them too. We haven't yet cos we don't think castles are very kiddie for Amelie, she'd be so bored. Me and mum did do Anwick castle where some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey is filmed. That was really good.
I bloody love periwinkle too. When I was little and had a Crayola desk, that was always my fave crayon. Crayola have done a makeup range, eyeshadows and other stuff made to look like a crayon. Of course I bought periwinkle.
Boo on the not liking yellow. I'm vey fussy with my yellows, too yellow looks orange and I hate the mustard colour. My fave colours are pastels, I don't like pink but I do like it in pastel. Pastel yellow and green are my absolute faves. When I buy anything I always buy them in both colours.
I love how you have many different colours in your house, I bet it all looks lovely. Do you feel different vibes in the different coloured rooms?
Labor day sounds great. I guess in our history, we just had bank holidays for the workers to have time off.
I'm glad you enjoyed my Egyptian explanation. The more you discuss loved one's the more you feed their soul and give them a better afterlife. I also love your pennies story. Buy a lottery ticket and rub one of your lucky special pennies on it, you never know. Then you could buy your special house by the sea and live their forever after.
It's great that all these hugs are going round. You can never have too many hugs. xxxxxxxxx
Thanks sunshine. I feel like I'm shell-shocked.
I'm good when I'm busy or there's music or the television on, but when it gets quiet - that's when it's hard.
I keep thinking, thinking, thinking.
Her voice or laugh will pop into my head. Memories keep replaying.
Today has been the best day so far for me. A little more normal and not so sad.
It was actually a great feeling when I showed up at the Church and her entire family hugged me. They were so glad to see me. It was as if I was under their wing again. I got lots of hugs. And even though I'm not a touchy feely person, these people are ok to be in my space. I don't feel invaded - even though there's a ton of them. She was a huge part of my life for a long time, and I was for her too.
I just wish it didn't end this way for her - and there's nothing I can do about it. Not before and obviously not now. I even understand it and that just makes me all the more sad for her.
Ugh.
I've had enough funerals for a long, long time.
Nobody should have funeral wear for all 4 seasons.
You have castles. Real, live castles. That were actually lived in and all sorts of cool stuff. We have Disney castles. Nobody lives in them except for the Disney princesses, and they’re only 18 years old.
A Crayole makeup range? I need to find that. I was always a big fan of the periwinkle in the crayons.
Years ago I was in my cousin’s wedding. She had all the colors of the rainbow in pastel. I was yellow. It was a horrible look for me. I looked sickly. And she was like, “You can cut it down and wear it to church.” Fat chance, I would’ve burned it right after the service if I had my druthers.
We tend to have cool colors in the house, although I have a periwinkle bathroom that I just love. It’s very happy in there. I think the interior is soothing. Lots of wood, stone and windows so it’s open. The yellow bedroom was the only room that was outside the “cool” color scheme. I did love it for its individuality for a long time. Now we have Pye’s bathroom in that yellow. It’s perfect for him and he hasn’t complained about it yet.
I thought the Egyptian explanation was great. I shared that with my friends and they loved it too, so Beth’s name was spoken a lot. I will purchase a lottery ticket and use one of my found pennies to rub all over it. I will share my winnings with you should I win. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Hugs to you and yours from me and mine. You’re right. You can never have too many hugs ♥ ♥ ♥
I'm so glad that there were lots of love and hugs going round at the church. It's times like this when you realise that family is what's important.
Nobody should have funeral wear for all 4 seasons.
OMG, you are so right. And strangely, I find summer funerals the worst. It's like how can this person be gone on a beautiful day like this. I really hope this is the last funeral you have to go to in a long time. I just hope that the memories are turning from raw to happy.
Yeah, we have real castles. At the moment in our town centre, they are excavating Sheffield castle which is where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner by Queen Elizabeth I for trying to claim the throne. It was on the news that there is a virtual reality tour of the castle in the local gallery so I think I'll pop in and give it a look, should be interesting.
The Crayola makeup is on ASOS, check it out, so cool.
LOL, you wanted to burn your gorgeous yellow dress, I absolutely love yellow. There's no accounting for taste.
Bloody hell, I bet your periwinkle bathroom is stunning. What a fantastic choice, I bet you feel so good whenever you are in there.
I'm glad you all loved my Egyptian story. I like their view of the world and the afterlife. Considering their whole society was run by religion, they were not extremists and always found great ways to overcome religious problems and ideas.
Good luck with your lottery ticket, I hope it wins and we can get together and have a hug in real life. It's not the same just sending good vibes across the pond, hey, I could come and see your amazing bathroom LOL.
On that note, love and hugs to you and yours. I will hug my family and hold them tight. Talk about Beth and JoJo at length and laugh at happy memories. I shall add Beth's name to my page as she surely left us too soon.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi there,
I’m not a fan of winter funerals. It’s cold and snowy and I’m already miserable because of the circumstances of being there. At least the good weather ones, I can escape because sometimes I can’t breathe. Too many people or too much emotion. Sometimes I just need to get out. Everything is still raw. Not all the time, but I never realized how often I would say, “Beth and I used to….” I’m hoping for a death reprieve. I think 3 in 6 months is enough.
I Googled your castle. There’s really not much there right now. Are they going to rebuild it? I wonder what cool things they might find during the excavation?
I am defo going to check out the Crayola makeup. I love the colors they have, so I’m going to try and find it local.
My boss loves yellow. She wears it all the time. She hates blue. It’s ok. She’s a good person, so I’ll go with what you said ~ There’s no accounting for taste =}
My Periwinkle bathroom is so happy. I think it’s going to get a freshen up this winter. It needs it. And yes, I still smile when I’m in there because it’s such a happy room.
I was just watching a show on the History Channel last week and it was about Egypt. It was really fascinating. It talked about the different rulers and some rulers who were stricken from the rolls. It was very interesting. A few nights after I saw that show, I had a dream where I found an Egyptian dog roaming the streets. I decided to keep it and I called it “Anubis.” I had to Google what God Anubis was, and had to laugh because he’s the god of mummification and the afterlife. And I had found this dog and kept him. I’ve been dealing with a lot of death lately. I just felt it was quite appropriate – and in a weird way, maybe it was a message that I’m being taken care of. BTW – the dog was black with a long neck that had spots that looked like arrows. It was a goofy young dog that looked like it was smiling at me.
I have yet to get a lottery ticket, but I’m still collecting the pennies. If I win I will definitely spring for a ticket so you can sit in my happy bathroom.
Thank you for JoJo and Beth’s name on your page. It’s so kind of you.
Well, it’s that time of the day where I’m supposed to get back to work. Be good and have a great week!
Hi Jenn, I agree about winter funerals, it somehow makes it even more miserable, as if it wasn't miserable enough.
Yeah, not much of our castle left, I think they are gonna do some rebuilding. You can Google Manor Lodge which is another place in Sheffield where Mary Queen of Scots was kept. There is something there, I've done a ghost hunt there.
I hope you manage to find the Crayola make-up. I think Asos is a British site but I'm sure trusty old Ebay may have some.
My boss loves yellow. She wears it all the time. She hates blue. It’s ok. She’s a good person, so I’ll go with what you said ~ There’s no accounting for taste =}
LOL hahahaha! I do love my yellow but I'm very fussy. It can't be mustard, yuck or look orangy at all. I love custard yellow and my fave is pastel yellow. Orange and Brown are my hated colours. Have you noticed how so many things from the 1970s were those colours? We call it the decade that taste forgot, maybe that's just a British thing and you had lovely stuff in the 70's.
Wow, your dream was cool. I think you are right about the message being sent. They do say that the dead send us messages through our dreams. I hope you enjoyed the programme. I get so miffed when I'm watching one and they get things wrong. I was watching one once with an American narrator and he kept talking about Thebes which is pronounced Theebz, he kept pronouncing it Theb-ez, tutt, tutt.
I have yet to get a lottery ticket, but I’m still collecting the pennies. If I win I will definitely spring for a ticket so you can sit in my happy bathroom.
LOL, we could sit there eating pizza in your periwinkle bathroom. That's the dream.
You are so welcome about Jojo's name. How could I not included such a wonderful and inspirational woman. When you spoke of her, I always pictured a glowing woman, glowing with love and wisdom.
I hope that you had a good week at work. Let's hope life gets better and death stays away. xxxxxx
Thank you for the writing compliment. I’ve been struggling with my writing as of late. I think it’s stress and I’ve been bottled up. I’m hoping this Autumn (and so on) things will get easier and flow.
Winter funerals are a drag. All funerals are a drag.
I was thinking that your castle was going to be some beautiful skeleton of a building. I was really surprised that there was nothing. A ghost hunt? Oh baby! Please tell me you saw/felt something! Details – details! I’ve done ghost tours in Charleston SC, but never saw/felt anything. It’s more like walking around town listening to ghost stories. Not much hunting.
Mustard yellow or orange yellow? Blech. I can tolerate a custard yellow as long as I don’t have to live in it or wear it. But I can appreciate the loveliness of it in certain situations.
When we bought our house, we had “avocado” shag carpeting in one bedroom. “Goldenrod” shag in the other. In America “Shag” means a rug or carpet that has a deep pile, giving it a shaggy appearance. The name derives from Old English sceacga, related to Old Norse skegg, beard. Very 70s. It was hideous. My kitchen counter was yellow formica with orange boomerangs on it. With a green floor. Yes, it was all ugly.
Apparently I did enjoy the program about Egypt, It made it into my dreams. I had a dream last night of my friend, Beth. We were just getting back in touch and she said “You know I have to leave soon.” And then I woke up.
One day we will eat pizza. Not in the bathroom. We can sit in the bedroom and look into the bathroom. Nobody wants to eat in a bathroom sitting on a hopper. =]
Thank you for being you.
Have a great week and work hard. Life does get better. Sometimes not as quickly as you hope.
It's the right time of year to talk about ghost hunting. On our ghost hunt at Manor Lodge, the building had two levels and there were outside ruins too. I got some good spikes on the EMF metre in the ruins. I went into some of the upstairs rooms alone filming but nothing happened. We had locked off cameras in all the rooms and we were all gathered round the screen as we could see a moving shadow in one of the dooorways, we were all in that room with the screen so we knew it wasn't any of us. Sis got too tired a few hours in and took her sleeping bag and went to sleep downstairs on her own, she said she was too tired to be scared LOL. The scariest thing I actually saw that night was sis's hair when she woke up LOL.
Yeah, our castle has been buried for years underground. Until recently there was a market on top called Castle market. They have just pulled that down and decided to uncover the castle remains again.
LOL your new house décor sounds eye wateringly colourful. Those colours scream 1970s don't they? I bet you were itching to change it. We still call thick carpets shag pile, just sounds rude really doesn't it? Kids will always snigger at words like that.
Wow, your dream about your friend sounds amazing, she actually said she had to leave? She was totally paying you an actual visit.
Not eat pizza in the bathroom, you know me, I'll eat it anywhere. Wherever it is, it'll taste great just being with you. There's a lottery dream for you.
Well, I'm off to Spain on Wednesday for a week with my Auntie Margy. It'll be great but I'll miss everyone, I facetime every night even to talk to the cockatiel.
Thank you for being you sweetie, never change.
You take care and have a great week. xxxxxxx
“The scariest thing I actually saw that night was sis’s hair when she woke up” too funny! While I’m truly fascinated by ghost hunts, I’m a chicken shit. I’m too afraid that I’ll actually see/hear something. I have a very active imagination which would only make things worse. And in the same turn I’d be disappointed if I didn’t see/hear anything. Of course, I’d then be afraid that I’d be so attractive to these entities that they’d follow me home – which does happen by the way – or so I’ve heard. Which would set off another round of anxiety. So I’ll just live vicariously through you and your stories.
Our old house was definitely 70s décor. We got rid of all of that hideous noise before we even moved in. With the exception of the awful green linoleum in the kitchen. For some reason we never replaced it until we were ready to sell the house. We were so dumb.
The new house was decorated in the 80s. Lots of “Dusty Rose” everywhere. And the most awful wallpaper. The people had painted, wall papered, painted, wall papered and painted. It was a beast to chip off the walls, but we did it. There’s one section in the front foyer that still has wallpaper. It’s textured and painted. It’s going to be a massive job and I just don’t have it in me to do it yet. So I painted over it again. At least it’s clean looking. Our house interior is sage, light blue, and of course a bit of purple peppered in for good measure. I find it soothing.
It’s so funny the language difference. Kids around here don’t know “Shag” except for Austin Powers and maybe something they heard from their parents regarding carpeting, but it’s not a dirty word.
My dream kind of freaked me out because it did seem like she was visiting. I did tell her that I had missed her and we were catching up. Laughing and the like. Yes, she did tell me “You know, I have to leave soon.” And then my eyes popped open. Her laughter still echoes in my mind.
I’ve been playing the lottery now that it’s up to nearly 1B. I know it’s a pipedream, but stranger things have happened to people. Wish me luck!
Enjoy Spain. Have you done a ghost tour/hunt there yet? I bet they’ve got a fascinating history to tell too! All you European countries have the coolest history that actually goes further back than the 1700s.
It’s good that you facetime your cockatiel. He probably misses you. Does he talk back? When we go away, sometimes I call the house and leave a message for Pye. I can’t see him so I don’t know if he responds to me. Probably not. He’s a cat and they generally don’t give a shit about anything.
Have a great week and be safe. Look forward to hearing of your travels!
♥ ♥ ♥ <- in Spanish in case you couldn’t tell.
Not much ghostly happened last night. We had a Halloween party for little madam. I landed back from Spain yesterday afternoon and in the evening when we were going to get ready, little madam decided she wanted to wear my witches dress even though it was MASSIVE on her. I was left in my trackie bottoms and Mr Benn t-shirt. Mr Benn was a brilliant cartoon from my childhood. Every day he went into the fancy dress shop and tried on an outfit, when he left the dressing room from the other door, he entered the world of the outfit her wore. After a while, the shop owner would appear and tap his shoulder to tell him his time was up. Bloody brilliant.
I love all the American ghost shows, my fave is the ghost within my child, really makes you think. I love Paranormal Witness too.
LOL with all the past era decoration. I had some totally typical 80's wallpaper in my bedroom when I was a teenager. It was diagonally striped and it was light pink and silver stripes, bloody loved it.
LOL shag totally means have sex over here. It's like you say strange language differences. But fanny really cracks me up. If you don't use it right, you can't get the most out of it. For example fanny fart or fanny flaps, I'm sure you can imagine what that is but if you think fanny means bum, it doesn't work. I must admit, I prefer our use of fanny, it is funnier lol.
Your dream about your friend was so amazing. I hope you have more and they reassure you.
I heard someone won that crazy high lottery. What an amount, our national lottery never really gets above £45 mil and the Euro lottery never gets above £145 mil which is an amazing amount but bloody hell, $1 bil. I hope it was you, fingers crossed sweetie.
Spain was great, didn't really do anything halloweeny cos it was day we flew home but the hotel did do lots of decorations. My fave was the restroom sign where the man and woman figures had their heads chopped off with lots of blood and the word room was crossed out and it said rest in pieces. Last year, they had a scarecrow with a pumpkin head and he was mooing to show his pumpkin bum.
I was totally facetiming Yellers, you've gotta talk to your pets haven't you? I love talking to the family but I love hearing my little boy whistle back when I whistle to him.
On that note, here's a Spanish Hola! from me. Have a great week xxxxxx
