You should have heard me giggling when I saw the pictures of the kids!
They look so happy and healthy.
I hope you and yours had a magical Crimbo and the happy and healthy New Year!
Can't stay long today, just wanted to send my ♥
They are such happy kids. Eloise is 1 on Saturday and Amelie has decided that Eloise would love to spend it at a soft play centre, so that's where we are off to.
Yesterday Eloise decided to show me how she could crawl up three sets of stairs and two landings to the attic playroom. She kept turning round to make sure I was following, grinning her head off.
We had a great Christmas and new Year. I hope that you and your family had a great time too. Any resolutions? I'm just trying to lose weight, not so easy with an underactive thyroid, but I'll try.
Love and hugs for the new Year to you and yours xxxx
MissT, your time off sounds as lovely as mine did. While I hear your sentiment on having the holidays 4 times a year, I'm more for having the time off like that 4 times a year. The holidays are stressful for me. I just need the recharging breaks at regular intervals.
I'm so glad to hear that the kids are just plain old happy kids. I figured as much with the pictures and stories you share. I'm glad that Eloise is moving and shaking like her big sis has done. I can't wait to hear about her walking.
If anything maybe that will help shave off any weight. Chasing 2 kids is a challenge. I plan on trying to lose weight too. The only excuse I have is that I have an underactive willpower. I love my sweets and I hate exercise. A bad combination I'm learning. Now that Christmas and the holidays are over, I won't be so tempted with the cookies and other yummies sitting around waiting for me to eat them.
We had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Very quiet which was just what the doctor ordered.
Love and hugs from me and mine to you and yours for the New Year and beyond.
Love and hugs to you and yours too Jenn.
Yes, they are very happy kids. Eloise is starting to walk holding mummy's hand and she loves the round of applause she gets, that really makes her smile.
Another thing that makes her smile is pizza. It was a sad day yesterday, the little on needed jabs, two in each leg. She was feeling sorry for herself and just whimpering when she came to ours. Big one wanted mummy cuddles so I was cuddling Eloise. She just laid her head on my shoulder and whimpered. But then, pizza was delivered. Sis said she had a beady eye on the boxes as they made their way into the room and when I asked if she wanted some (we pull little bits of cheese off for her, she's cheese mad), she sat bolt upright, spat out her dummy and sat with her mouth open, talk about a split second transformation. It was so funny, and after that she was happy and clapping, gabbing away, putting my lip balm on me. That girl is food mad, we haven't yet found a food she doesn't like.
Good luck with your weight loss. I managed to lose 1 and a quarter ponds the first week and 2 pounds the next. I can't say it's been hard, I've just not had fizzy pop with every meal, just a couple of meals a week (it is compulsory with pizza), and I haven't had the Christmas goodies to nibble, and that's been all really so it hasn't been a hardship at all. And I still had me weekly pizza, that is totally non negotiable LOL.
Have a great week and good luck resisting the sweets xxx
I'm with you! I like the crumpled in the winter. The flannel sheets seem softer after a few sleeps in them.
In the summer I like the crisp fresh sheets. Maybe because it's so hot at night I feel like I sweat.
I always felt that the needles were too large in comparison to the baby's legs. The boy used to do that silent scream after the needle was pulled out. I felt horrible for getting him the shots. I'm glad to hear Eloise recovered so quickly from them.
I can't believe Eloise is starting to walk already! Soon she'll be running. Be happy that she's willing to eat everything. Friend's of the boys still only eat pizza and chicken fingers. Don't they know there's a whole big food world out there?
The girls are lovely! You must have such fun!
I lost 1 pound. I'm still working on the rest.
Yes, Eloise recovered quickly from her jabs as soon as pizza appeared. She totally loves being allowed to pull off bits of cheese and feed herself.
Amelie remember the jabs and is scared of needles now, even sharp things like scissors freak her out. She is crazy about Ancient Egypt now but says she doesn't want to go because she doesn't want holiday jabs, bless her.
Not only does Eloise eat anything, she eats LOADS. If you kept feeding her, she would keep eating. But if you put baby food in front of her when she can see real food she'll soon shove that out of the way.
It's crazy now that mum has to look after them both now sis has gone back to work. Amelie is very "I want mummy cuddles" when mum is around and maybe it's cos we look so alike, that Amelie transfers that to me when sis is not here. Unfortunately, so does Eloise so when I get back from work I've got them both arguing for cuddles. It's quite funny how Amelie often calls me mummy when she forgets.
Congrats on losing a pound, it all starts with that first pound. I started off really good and lost 5 pounds but it seems to have stalled a bit. Must try harder I suppose.
Good luck with the weight loss, fingers crossed we both start losing a bit more.
Hello Lovely,
The UK is behind us by about a week or two. All non-essential businesses are to be closed. Take-away food can be open and you can get deliveries. The store shelves are bare and people are having their holidays cancelled.
I work with a person who was to get married tomorrow. They were able to postpone until August, but could you imagine all that planning only to have to change dates? AND they were to go on a cruise. I'm not a fan of cruises. Not that I've ever been on one, but they are like hot beds for cooties. I know people who have gone on them and love it and have done several. Good for them, I say.
The US has closed it's border with Canada (a friendly closing they are saying) and they just announced the Mexican border closing. We are also not accepting flights from Europe. A news flash went out last night telling people abroad to come home or prepare to be wherever they are indefinitely.
Please be cautious and wash your hands.
And with all that, have a wonderful time on your trip.
Yes, the UK is behind other countries by at least two weeks. We are now in lockdown and can only go out to work buy food etc or exercise. No more than 2 people together unless they are family. Shops are now having a one out one in rules so no mad rush can buy up everything. Only takeaway food places are open and people are being asked to pay with cards rather than cash.
I am booked to go to Spain on May 3rd, I have fingers crossed it will have died down by then but I'm not holding my breath. It's no biggie though really, just move it to another time.
Our trip was lovely, nice sunshine. When we went on Friday, there was no lockdown. The B&B owners are friends and we checked if they still wanted us. They said everything was open and apart from a few restaurants, things were. They said they only had one more bloke staying cos he was working in the area, but they never saw him, neither did we. They said they had lost £3,000 that week alone. They kept their distance excpt when serving us breckie and we only saw their little girl once from a distance.
Friday, we walked on the beach, and ran from the waves. We went in the sots arcades, though it was practically empty so that was ok, we took antibacterial wipes everywhere. We had a meal at a café which was only having two tables served at once to reduce risk, so there were only one other group of people sitting away from us. Our fave chippy restaurant wasn't open but the takeaway was so we got chips to eat back in the dining room. We were gonna do pizza hut but it was closed for maintenance and had been for a little while.
The next day, some lockdown occurred. The cafes all shut, the arcades all shut, the Victorian cliff lift closed down. All the normal shops were open but all food places were takeout. I was adamant I was having my birthday pizza so we popped into a restaurant in York (beautiful old city with castles and tudor houses, you'd love it) and we got takeaway and sat and ate them in the van in a car park (with toilets, I wouldn't have managed the journey home without a loo break). It was a nice experience all being in the van all cosy, the kids loved it, sis not so much lol.
Anyway, we got in at the right time cos everything locked down the next day. We had a great time and now we are being good. We are still having the kids cos sis needs to work from home and Neil has been called back into work (but he has been given his own office), so you have to do what you have to do. But apart from getting groceries, no-one is going anywhere and even though they alternate to come to drop off and pick up kids so we see them for a few mins every day, we are not having our weekly meal together cos that would be taking the piss just carryng on as usual.
I hope you and your stay healthy and that this is all over soon. Look after yourself xxx
Hi MissT, I’m glad you are being safe and taking care. We have only essential businesses open (banks, markets, gas). Some stores have lines taped to the floors to keep people back 6 feet, but so far there has been no limit to how many can be in the store. I try to shop once a week if needed and at odd times to protect myself. The boy is susceptible and I don’t want to bring anything home to him – or to anybody in my house.
Spain may not be ready by May. They seem to be having a very difficult time right now. You may want to push to August or September.
I’m so glad your trip had sunshine. It’s been rainy and cold for almost 2 weeks. Today has sun but it’s really windy and colder than I would like, but the sun is shining and for now that’s all that matters. It’s nice that you were able to go away and that the B&B owners had respected personal distance. And you’re right, you got in just at the right time.
I miss the beach. All the ones around here are closed. Even though the beaches are large and wide, they got crowded with chuckleheads. There you go, a few bad apples spoil the bunch. We can only get take-away food. Any restaurant that does not do take-away or delivery has to close. We don’t want to get delivery because we don’t know if the delivery person has been cautious. So, I’m doing my fair share of cooking. I made a turkey last week and it took us 5 days to eat it. Needless to say, we are all tired of turkey. Tomorrow it’s roasted pork butt. I’m going to make a pizza dough and try my hand at a pizza. It won’t be pretty but hopefully it will taste ok.
I’m hoping that you and yours stay healthy. Take your vitamins, stay hydrated, avoid people but try to still have fun.
Hi Jenn, I'm glad you are looking after yourself and your family.
Last week sis had a cold and the little one's have it. Of course they sneeze on me and I have it. We know it's a cold because we have no fevers and it's not a dry cough. I started on Monday with my nose blocking up and the cough started bad Tuesday. I can feel that today, the cough is on it's way out. I must admit, knowing it is a cold, it feels great to be out on the front garden and coughing my head off LOL, I know it's a bad sense of humour hee hee!
We too only have takeaways open and we are being spaced out at the supermarkets. It was nice to have our getaway before everything closed down. I don't think our beaches are closed but people are being advised to stay away. I saw on the TV tonight a special about how it's all gone down in America and there was a family at the beach and the dad said "It's fake news, a conspiracy". Bloody hell, you just can't help some people. Also gun sales are big there at the moment cos everyone knows that you can kill a virus with a gun duh!
We have had 500+ die a couple of days on the trot now so I hope we have plateaued and it starts to slow down. Yes, I'm sure the hols in May won't be happening but I hope we can change it to the summer rather than later in the year.
Talking of summer, I think if these restrictions are expected to go on longer than the end of May, that's when the chaos will start. If we have a nice summer, then there's no way people will stay cooped up when they've done it a couple of months already. And there's no way anyone will be able to police it. We've gotta pray it all ends soon or pray June's weather is crap.
Anyway, fun and games. Let's see what happens next. Take care and be safe xxx
HI there!
I'm so sorry to hear you got a cold, but really, aren't you thrilled it's just that? Keep the sunshine going and get better!
One of my friends is positive this is all bullshit created by the government and they're all going to come and get rid of us. She told me to not get the immunization because of something. She wouldn't tell me what that something was, but to not let anyone in the house. I'm already not letting anybody in the house so I'm ok. There are those people who believe this is all a hoax. I have friends in the medical industry and they are telling me what they see and this is not a joke. Gun sales are up. They always go up when big things like this happen (market crash, 911, a pandemic).
I'm hoping for a plateau soon too. Our Centers for Disease Control is putting out a memo today telling people that wearing a covering over your face, sick or not, is probably a good thing. Willie sent me a great article that said that even a bandana will protect you more by 50% - and I think that's better than a stick in the eye.
I'm really hoping this doesn't go thru the summer. I miss normalcy and I don't want this to be the new normal. Our police are driving up and down the streets yelling at people to go home. No fines yet, but they can do it. I'm thinking I'd rather yell at some chuckleheads than get near them to give them a ticket.
Well, that's it for me today.
Be safe and be well.
Yeah, I'm so glad it's just a cold. The first three days were a really bad blocked up nose, then the cough kicked in and a week and a half later, that's still going strong though it is easing off a bit. No temperatures though and it's just a cold cos we've all had it.
I've seen those crazy conspiracists on TV. Over here there have been a few of the new 5G masts burned down cos people said they were to blame. Luckily, no guns here, and people are mostly sane but some people just do not get this social distancing thing and police are handing out fines to people still having picnics in the park.
Your friend sounds like she's lost the plot a bit. I saw something good on facebook that said to all those anti-vac people, this is what the world is like without a vaccination, you'd hope that would hit home with them.
Our death rate is going up but we are hoping to reach our peak around Easter, fingers crossed. Keeping things in perspective, our deaths are below 8,000 and between 2014 and 2019 in the uk alone, an average of 17,000 people die each year of standard flu, one year was just 4,000 but one year was 34,000 and it averages as 17,000. So people should be told that more people die each year of standard flu, but this message doesn't get out, this seems bad because it's new but unfortunately, the people who have died probably would have anyway of they'd caught standard flu. Obviously, there are more likely to catch this cos no-one has any immunity, but the amount of deaths is not in any way extortionate for a type of flu.
That doesn't make it any better for the people of relatives who have died but we are keeping our heads, staying home and not panicking, it's all anyone can do.
Finger crossed, you are yours stay safe and healthy. Look after yourself.
