Week 52 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So, New Year is almost upon us. I wish you all a happy one. I hope the coming year brings you all everything you wish for. I hope it's a good one for all of us.

So, we still don't know where our nuisance neighbour is. He's not there cos there is no door banging or noise, no movement of any kind.

He has left a little lamp and TV on quietly, but for who's benefit? We know cos we have spied when it gets dark.

If he had gone away, it would only be to his girlfriends cos he has no friends and she only lives two streets away. Why would he not have come back in the meantime for things?

Where is hs dog? Not that we ever hear him anyway, the quietest dog in the world.

It is all a mystery. His music went quiet at 21:25 Christmas Eve and we haven't heard a peep since. We didn't hear his door bang or a car pull up to meet him so where is he?

One theory is that he felt ill and turned his music down to ring an ambulance but never got that far. That would explain why his light and TV is still on. We don't think he would have left them on for the benefit of burglers cos he is a tramp with nothing to nick and surely the cost of the electricity would eat into his booze budget.

I keep telling mum to sniff whenever she goes outside to see if she can detect the aroma of dead body. I have flu again so my nostrils are useless right now.

Oh well, time will tell. If he has gone away, surely he'll be back for the New Year. I shall keep you all updated.

Happy Christmas

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas.

I am still made up with flu and feel all washed out. Therefore I am devoid of all inspiration and you all have to make do with traditionally dodgy crimbo gifts.

Week 51

So, our noisy neighbour thought we were having the recording box til Monday ( I swear he has a scanner that can hear our phone calls).

Well, the bastard actually moved out and stayed away so he wouldn't get caught. We know cos we kept going out and looking to see if his lights were on.

He came back Monday evening when he thought it was safe again but he didn't know that early Monday morning, I had a phone call from the council to say that the next people due to have it had cancelled so we could have it til Thursday.

An guess what? Cos he didn't know this, he played his music loud on Tuesday night and I recorded him. It wasn't as loud as he usually has it but it was loud enough.

I'm so glad we got the box for longer. It might not be enough noise to evict him but it might be enough noise to let us have the box again for another try. You are only supposed to have it three times but we have had it four times already. They suppose that if you haven't got any evidence after three tries, it can't be that bad. but they know how sneaky our neighbour is so they have made allowances so far.

We shall see how it goes.

I wrote the above yesterday. Today the lady from the council came back and took the box away. She rang me a short while later to say that the box hadn't recorded anything. Not my fault, the box was faulty.

At least this means that we can have it again after Christmas. This time she will let me know when it is coming by post so him next door can't eavesdrop.

It's an outcome of sorts. Let's hope he's louder next time.

Week 50

Back from London. The open day was really useful. We got to practise some of the written tests and role play we will do in our interview. They gave us some really good interview techniques too. A police interview runs a little different from an ordinary one, but now I know what to expect so that's good.

Talking of police, the ones round our way haven't got in touch to talk to us about that garage break in. They came back to try again but our neighbour had done a good job of nailing the door shut. We have placed a big pile of bricks in front of the door too.

We have the recording box in this weekend so I really hope the neighbour actually does blast his music.

Sad news is I got my Christmas edition of Radio times and I have sat down and ringed all the programmes I'll be watching over crimbo. Yes, I am that sad.

Week 49

So, today I looked out of my window and saw that the side door to the garage was swinging open. I thought it had been blown open in the wind but when I got out there, all the locks are twisted and the door frame is all splintered.

Yup, this happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning between 5am and 5:30am. I know cos I now remember hearing it.

My nice neighbour is a truck delivery driver and often has to leave for work in the early hours, so I am used to him opening his garage doors in the early hours. When this happened, I thought it was him as his garage is right next door to ours. I now remember that the door opening noise wasn't followed by him getting his van out, no engine noise.

Luckily, they haven't touched my Beetle and nothing else has been taken. We know who did it but not exactly who.

They got over the fence at the end of the garden that joins onto the school field. We know this cos they have moved a paving stone to prop it up at the fence to make their getaway back over it.

On Monday, there was people doing community service cutting down the trees on the school field. They obviously saw the garage then and came back in the early hours to nick the strimmer. So we know what people did it but not who exactly.

My nice neighbour has sealed up the door and I have reported it to a lovely policewoman at the crime recording bureau and she has allocated a policeman to come and see us.

We did all this detective work ourselves, in the dark tonight. But all the timing fits and at least now all they have to do is get the names of the people doing community service that day. It would be too much of a coincidence for it not to be one of them.

We shall see what happens.
